Location: Nashville, TN area (office in Mount Juliet)

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Accountant to join our growing private equity-backed firm specializing in the HVAC and plumbing industry. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Corporate Accountant to join our finance team.

The Corporate Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the full-cycle accounting processes for the corporate entity, assisting with accounting entries across all entities, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This position involves reconciling and reviewing entries and balances on a monthly basis, creating comprehensive financial packages, preparing various KPIs and analytics, and supporting the audit process.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of full circle accounting for one of our companies, which will include (but is not limited to) accounts payable, cash transactions, journal entries, maintaining fixed assets and other tasks.
  • Assist with accounting entries and processes across all affiliated entities to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Perform month end close procedures, including (but not limited to) reconciliations of sub-ledgers and balance sheet accounts, recording monthly accruals and other month end close entries, reviewing transactions and performing all other necessary tasks to accurately close the month.
  • Assists with creation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial packages, including detailed reports, statements, and analyses for management and stakeholders.
  • Assist with developing and preparing key performance indicators (KPIs) and various financial analytics to support business decision-making.
  • Assists with yearly audit and tax preparation.
    Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in compliance with GAAP, as well as relevant legal and tax requirements and best practices.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls within the accounting function in collaboration with all accounting parties within the organization.
    Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with emphasis in Accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP required.
  • Experience with project accounting preferred.
  • Experience using complex accounting software required, Intacct or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel required.
  • Previous experience with a multi-company environment with intercompany transactions required.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a clean office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time; occasionally move about inside the office; operate a computer and other office productivity machinery; occasionally ascend/descend stairs; frequently pull and remove files from cabinets, occasionally in the basement and other areas; frequently communicate with various internal and external populations, including individuals representing legal and governmental agencies.

Travel

Less than 25% travel may be required.
